What Jesus Said about baptisms

What Jesus Said about baptism in water and the Holy Spirit

Then cometh Jesus from Galilee to Jordan unto John, to be baptized of him. But John forbad him, saying, I have need to be baptized of thee, and comest thou to me? And Jesus answering said unto him,  Suffer it to be so now: for thus it becometh us to fulfil all righteousness. Then he suffered him. And Jesus, when he was baptized, went up straightway out of the water: and, lo, the heavens were opened unto him, and he saw the Spirit of God descending like a dove, and lighting upon him: Mathew 3:13-16

Go ye therefore, and teach all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost Mathew 28:19

If ye then, being evil, know how to give good gifts unto your children: how much more shall your heavenly Father give the Holy Spirit to them that ask him? Luke 11:13

But ye shall receive power, after that the Holy Ghost (Holy Spirit) is come upon you Acts 1:8a

Other baptism scriptures

Now when the apostles which were at Jerusalem heard that Samaria had received the word of God, they sent unto them Peter and John: Who, when they were come down, prayed for them, that they might receive the Holy Ghost: (For as yet he was fallen upon none of them: only they were baptized in the name of the Lord Jesus.) Then laid they their hands on them, and they received the Holy Ghost. Acts 8:14-17

An Example

Summary

Jesus himself gave us a pattern to follow by allowing himself to be baptized in water and immediately afterwards the Holy Spirit descended on Him. This marked the start of his ministry.

The Bible pattern for us is to be Born Again, then immediately Baptized in water symbolising death to the old life and resurrection to new life in Jesus. Finally the laying on of hands for baptism in the Holy Spirit, in order to receive power to act as a disciple of Jesus.

Baptism by full emersion and in the Holy Spirit releases the power of God in your life. This makes you ready to receive all the benefits that the Father has for you. They are all received in the same way as salvation, by praying for what you need, based on God’s Word. By this  you grow into all the Father has for you.
