The New King James Bible
The King James Bible is the most published Bible in the world, and remains the Gold Standard. Many of the modern translations incorporate the views of the translators. The Niew King James is slightly more approachable for a new reader, not containing Elizabethen English.
Amplified Bible Classic Edition
Zodervan published a wonderful Amplified Bible which explained all shades of meaning of the origonal manuscripts that were written in Biblical Hebrew, Old Testament and Koine Greek, New Testament. Unfortunately Amplified Bible was drastically “updated” and lost much of it’s value. This text is now most easily found in electronic form, eg YouVision Holy Bible App
Blue Letter Bible App
