What Jesus said about abiding in Him

If ye abide in me, and my words abide in you, ye shall ask what ye will, and it shall be done unto you. Herein is my Father glorified, thay ye bear much fruit; so shall ye be my disciplesJohn15:7-9

Other Scriptures

In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. The same was in the beginning with God. All things were made by him; and without him was not any thing made that was made. In him was life; and the life was the light of men. 5And the light shineth in darkness; and the darkness comprehended it not. And the Word was made flesh, and dwelt among us, (and we beheld his glory, the glory as of the only begotten of the Father,) full of grace and truth.John 1:1-4,14

This book of the law shall not depart out of thy mouth; but thou shalt meditate therein day and night, that thou mayest observe to do according to all that is written therein: for then thou shalt make thy way prosperous, and then thou shalt have good success.Joshua 1:8

I beseech you therefore, brethren, by the mercies of God, that ye present your bodies a living sacrifice, holy, acceptable unto God, which is your reasonable service. And be not conformed to this world: but be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind, that ye may prove what is that good, and acceptable, and perfect, will of God.Romans 12:1,2

Jesus said the single most important thing He required of His followers, is for us to abide in Him and for God's words to abide in us. When we are born again our spirit becomes new, but our mind needs to be renewed by studying the Bible. God told Joshua (the leader of about 4 million people) to meditate therein (God's Word) day and night. That mean taking time to hear, read, speak and meditate on the Bible. Without abiding in Jesus we don't grow, like branch of a tree when separeted from the trunk cannot survive, neither can we without being vitally united with the Word whcich is Jesus.

Holy Bible My son, attend to my words; consent and submit to my sayings. Let them not depart from your sight; keep them in the center of your heart. For they are life to those who find them, healing and health to all their flesh. Keep and guard your heart with all vigilance and above all that you guard, for out of it flow the springs of life.Prov 4:20-23 AMPC
